Ham/amateur radio enthusiasts rejoice! Our MF/HF converter for software defined radio is finally available for sale. This device allows you to listen to MF and HF through your existing software defined radio (SDR). If you do not currently have an SDR we have plenty of low-cost solutions available for sale.
BONUS! We had space left on the PCB, so rather than waste it we have added a noise source circuit at no additional cost! We have even populated most of the components for you. We have kits of the components required to complete this circuit available for a small additional fee. Details of the noise source circuit are available with the project documentation, and a detailed image of the circuit can be seen in the pictures above.
Full operating instructions are available on our website nooelec.com
The intermittent nature of the availability of Tony Parks’ SoftRock SDR kits may be about to change. His old url now re-directs to “Five Dash” – so named because five dashes is Morse for the number zero, thus representing the starting point for SDR. Additionally, Tony has added two family members to his previous one-man [...]

KB9YIG’s 2/4/6m SDR receiver kit
A few weeks ago I ordered a Genesis SDR kit which, at the time, was on backorder. This turned out to be a good thing – during the wait, the tower project finally passed the last stage moving from hope to do-able.
So I cancelled the order for the Genesis and proceeded with ordering the tower and all the other necessities.
The Genesis was originally going to be used as a way to monitor activity on 6 meters and perhaps provide an upload to the Reverse Beacon Network. That being the case, the kit itself was overkill since it operated on two other bands and was a transceiver.
The recent availability of kits from Tony KB9YIG solved that problem and I now have a 6m (or 2m or 4m) SDR kit for a fraction of the price. Lots of bang for the buck in his kits with this VHF version being the rarest of the breed.
Regarding the tower – recent rains here have prevented progress, the Yagi has arrived and I’m anxious to get things going once it dries out a bit (the foundation hole is now a muddy pit). But I’m thankful for the rain, as are our new plum, fig and lemon trees.
The next step is to pour the concrete. One cubic yard delivered and poured is $300 – same as the Genesis kit…

It’s a rare day when any one of Tony KB9YIG’s SDR kits are available for sale but as I write this all five are currently available.
I ordered a $21 Lite II receiver kit a few days ago – how can you not at that price – but what I really wanted was the 6/4/2m SDR kit. One is now on the way.
If you’ve ever pondered buying one of Tony’s kits, now’s the time.
